Gas safety
Gas safety is one of our top priorities
By law, we must carry out an annual service and safety check on your household gas appliances, including boilers, cookers, water heaters and fires.
We'll always give you notice when one of our contractors intends to visit your home, and we'll be as flexible as we can with your appointment time. It is essential that we carry out these checks to ensure the safety of your household.
If you notice anything off, or if something's not quite working correctly, get in touch straight away by calling 01387 321 300.
If you smell gas...
- Turn off the gas at the meter
- Open all doors and windows
- Do not attempt to turn electrial switches on or off
- Do not smoke in or around the property
- Go outside and call the National Grid's 24-hr helpline on 0800 111 999
Aside from having annual gas safety checks, there are some steps you can take to keep your home as safe as possible:
- Make sure you know when your gas appliances were last checked/serviced
- Allow us access to your home when your gas safety check is due
- Think you're overdue a gas safety check? Get in touch here or give us a call on 01387 321 300
- Treat your appliances with care and try not to cause damage to any of the gas appliances in your home
- Leave it to the professionals. Try to avoid installing gas appliances yourself and remember to check with us before making changes to your home
