Let's Get Sporty
Founded in 2011, Let's Get Sporty aims to tackle two main causes of concern within Dumfries & Galloway - low levels of physical activity and high levels of unemployment.
They focus on effecting positive change, particularly for young people, through the provision of innovative, engaging and quality projects. Using sport and physical activity as a medium, they successfully provide individualised training which develops self-confidence and enhances social and employability skills.
In addition to Birthday Parties, School Events and Holiday Camps, Let’s Get Sporty also run a Trainee Academy that creates and maximises opportunities for young people to learn and gain valuable experience through sport. Guided training, mentoring and support help to build a range of transferrable skills and positive futures.
In March 2016, following many years and numerous successful events working together, Let’s Get Sporty and Loreburn Housing Association entered into an official partnership, which concentrates on providing quality sport sessions as part of an older adult’s programme as well as supporting young residents by bringing them on to the Trainee Programme.
Let's Get Sporty Director David Bradbury commented:
"This is a great partnership for both Let's Get Sporty and Loreburn Housing Association to tackle youth unemployment levels across the region. We both believe passionately about making a difference in young peoples lives and creating a positive future. Our trainee programme is unique and with over 100 young people moving into either further education or employment, we have a track record of supporting and making a difference in young people's lives.
