Ending Your Tenancy
Should you wish to end your tenancy with Loreburn Housing Association you must provide us with at least 28 days written notice. Your tenancy end date will then be calculated from the date in which we recieve your signed notice, not the date it was written, so please be aware of this if you are sending your notice to us by post.
If you have a joint tenancy, both parties must sign the letter in order to allow us to accept the termination notice.
Once your notice is recieved a Technical Officer from our Asset Management Team will contact you in order to arrange a pre-termination inspection. This is nothing to worry about, an officer will attend and assess the property condition and take note of any repairs which Loreburn will be required to complete prior to the property being re-let.
They will also advise you of any repairs which we require you to undertake prior to you leaving the property, these will be confirmed to you in writing. Any repairs which are highlighted as tenant responsibilty but are not completed prior to your tenancy ending, will be completed on your behalf and rechargeable to you.
We will expect you to remove all personal belongings and to leave the property in a clean and tidy condition. Again, we will recharge you for any costs incured by Loreburn Housing in order to return your house to a standard which is suitable to let.
You will remain liable for all rent due up to your tenancy end date, regardless of whether you leave the property prior to this date.
You must return all sets of keys to your property on, or before your tenancy end date. If we do not recieve your keys by the agreed date, you will be charged rent on a daily basis until they are returned.
