Sheltered Housing - Older Person's Services
Loreburn's Sheltered Developments provide accommodation for people aged 60 and over, offering a safe and secure environment with expert help on hand to assist if required. It is an ideal option for individuals who wish to maintain their own independence, while having professional support close by.
Our Sheltered Developments are located throughout the region and aim to keep residents active within their community, we have three conveniently located developments in Dumfries town centre, Nithsdale Mills, JM Barrie House and Gifhorn House; in Annan we have one development called Lady's Well; and in Stranraer we have Milburn Court which benefits from beautiful views across Loch Ryan.
Kings Court our Castle Douglas development, does not have an onsite Co-ordinator or communal areas, so this is something which should be considered when applying, we also have a slightly different set up in Wigtown at our Kirklea Place development as it consists of bungalows rather than flats and again there is no onsite Co-ordinator or communal areas.
Benefits of Sheltered Housing
Sheltered Coordinators oversee the day to day running of each property and provide support and advice to all residents. Optional morning calls are also available, ensuring our residents are safe and well. All flats are fitted with Care Call alarm systems which provides 24 hour assistance via pull cords, intercom and push pendants. Secure door entry systems are fitted to all main doors at each development, operated by a telephone intercom system fitted within each flat, allowing easy and secure access for visitors to the building.
In addition to each resident’s individual flat there are communal lounges, kitchens and gardens which allow for relaxation, socialisation, and activities. Guest rooms are also available for visiting friends and family.
How to apply
If you are interested in applying for this type of accommodation for yourself or a loved one, the application form you will need to complete is the same one as you would complete for general needs housing.
Each Housing Association within the Common Housing Register manages their own properties and may provide different services and products, therefore it is best to check when applying that the developments you select offer the type of sheltered housing you require.
Please make sure you select Sheltered Housing as the option type in Section 8.
